ACTION NEEDED – ELECTION 2010: FIRST CRUCIAL TEST HOURS AWAY!

By jennifer
Dear Friend of Equality,

In less than 24 hours Iowans go to the polls for what is sure to be the first crucial test for pro-equality voters in 2010. Representative Ako Abdul-Samad is facing a credible Democratic challenger recruited and funded by the vehemently anti-gay Iowa Family Policy Center. According to the Iowa Independent it’s GROUND ZERO for the gay marriage fight.

The Fairness Fund PAC is on the ground with campaigns like Ako’s to see that pro-equality voters turn out and drive our allies to victory tomorrow evening! Over the past few weeks, we’ve been tirelessly making calls, canvassing districts, and encouraging early voting.

This critical work would not be possible without loyal supporters like you.

Make an urgent, time-sensitive donation to help support pro-equality candidates in Iowa.

Goal Thermometer
When the Iowa Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality, we knew the victory could be futile without pro-equality legislators standing up for all Iowa families. The attacks have been frequent and virulent. Only weeks ago, a legislator even proposed excluding gay and lesbian families from family camping regulations due to his opposition to marriage equality.

I can’t overestimate the high stakes of November’s election. With 55 fair-minded legislators up for re-election in the Iowa House this year, we have a very narrow margin of error. If we were to lose even six races, the House could be controlled by right-wing extremists determined to take away the freedom to marry.

We didn’t get this far just to see our rights stripped away from us one by one.

Make a donation now to the Fairness Fund PAC to help us reach our $5000 goal and build for pro-equality victories this November.Sincerely,

Carolyn Jenison
